My First Time...

Hey Guys! We just thought that we would share with you my first time.........eating Sushi. We went grocery shopping at Whole Foods the other day and we grabbed some of their Sushi. Dudy has been wanting me to try it for a while but I was not attracted to the raw tuna, but I really wanted to try it because every time I see the California Rolls they look super duper Yummy!! I just said forget it, today is the day. Also they have really good prices...Dudy didn't want to take me to a Sushi restaurant, which can be highly expensive, and then I didn't like it. We got the California rolls for $7.39 and we also bought a huge jug of water for $0.99 just to wash it down if I didn't like it....Here are the pictures of my experience....we left the darn camera at home so these are cell pics...

I was pretty excited to try these...They look sooo good!!!

Dudy already knows he likes them...he just plopped one in his mouth.

Mmmmm Good!!!!

Okay...my turn...Here goes nothing...

Not a really good reaction....Look at the face!!!

I could feel the cold, wet, raw tuna on my tongue...

I was pretty grossed out....

Oh Man, Oh Man....This is not what I expected...What should I do!!!?!!

I swallowed it down and then chugged the water...I didn't not have a good first experience but Dudy says he's still proud of me because he likes when I try new things....Whew!!!...Glad I did it but I didn't like it at all!!!!

Thanks again for stopping by and checking us out!!!

Lazy Sunday Picnic

08/19/2012

Hi Guys!!! We decided to have a picnic today...we haven't had one in a while and we decided that Sunday is such a lazy day that it would be perfect. The weather was cool with a little breeze but still sunny...just perfect!!! I made up the picnic basket with deluxe homemade croissant sandwiches, chips, a couple of pickles, store bought pasta salad (From Copps Grocery Store) and for me a lovely piece of white fluffy cake, also from Copps. We didn't know where we wanted to go seeing as though Madison has a million and one parks : ) LOL!!! No but seriously we have a TON of parks and we ended up deciding on one of our favorites...it is quiet and kind of hidden off in the cut. We found a really good spot and the only other people there were far away from us celebrating a little kids birthday party...

Dudy was sooo hungry we hadn't eaten all day so he had to dig in right away...

Don't you just love our little picnic blanket...It folds into a little tote with a front pocket...My mentor gave it to us along with the refurbished picnic basket for our wedding gift...

On the menu:
Croissant Sandwich with ham, bacon, onion, tomatoes, cheese and spinach...sooo good!
Plain Ruffle Chips
Pasta Salad
And a Snapple drink

I also brought along a few magazines to flip through and we brought our cell phones for Pandora

Mmmm look at that cake...It was so moist...I ended up eating it later on in the day because I was sooo stuffed after eating lunch.

Peaceful!!

Look at all that goodness!!!

This pasta salad is super yummy...it is Penne Pasta, with Asiago cheese chunks, Cherry Tomatoes, Olives and Green Peppers with some type of dressing...it's $7.99 a lb but totally worth it!!!

The sun tired me out...Nap time : ) LOL!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

Beer Marinated Steak Tacos

Hi Guys! I think you already know that we LOVE Steak and we also LOVE tacos so we put them together once again, but this time we made them with a little twist....I marinated the steak in Beer!!!! We have marinated steak in beer before and grilled it, but it has been a few years so we decided to revisit this but make tacos...Sounds good right? Well they were....They get a double THUMBS UP from Dudy...."The best steak tacos so far..."

Here is what I did:

I cut 2 Angus chuck steaks into strips and marinated them for about 2-3 hours in the 'fridge.
The Marinade:
1 Coronita ( small Corona beer)
1 Jalapeno
Chopped Cilantro to taste
1/4 of a Red Onion
2 Garlic Cloves
Worcestershire Sauce to taste
Sriracha Sauce to taste
Garlic, Onion, Paprika, Cayenne Pepper & Black Pepper...all to taste

Cover and marinate for at least 1 hour...

Added veggie oil to cast iron skillet and added the steak....try and space them out so they are not all on top of each other.

Add the remaining sauce from marinade...

Let them brown up and then flip....maybe about 4 minutes on each side....

When the meat is done to your liking...cut into cubes or bite size pieces....

Add back to the juices in the skillet....

Let them simmer on LOW until time to eat...

I made some Refried Black Beans in a small pot....

Now time to make the tortillas....

Just put the tortillas on a hot non-stick skillet and brown each side....

Put the tacos together and add your own toppings.....I made Pico de Gallo, and added sour cream and cheese.

Dudy is about to Dig in : )

He gives it a 2-Thumbs up!!!!! He loves tacos soooo much!!!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!!!

Saturday: Bummin' Around

Hi Guys! We didn't do much this weekend, just bummed around. I thought that we would find the perfect coffee table or bench that I want for a really cool craft project. We went to lots of thrift stores in search of this perfect table or bench and I think we might have found it. I will let you guys know if we buy it and show you what I plan to do with it. It ended up being really rainy so it was a good day for shopping and being inside. We went to several Antique/ Thrift stores, Hancock Fabrics, TJ Maxx, JCPenney and World Market.
Towards the end of the night we watched the Olympics because Track & Field started on Friday and I was SUPPPPER EXCITED to  watch. I ran track in middle and high school and am in Love with running....
